Release notes: v3.3.0
v3.3.0 adds Apple RAW and embedded lens corrections, and improves Camera Match, Auto Tone, RGB tone curves, and edit variants. It also improves Remote WebUI and file handling on Windows.
Apple RAW engine macOS
- Apple RAW support: Edit mode and export can now use the Apple RAW engine built into macOS, including RAW9 and Apple NR.
- RAW engine picker: Double-click the engine badge in the upper-left of Edit mode to choose among the Nikon SDK / Apple RAW / LibRaw / JPG options available for that file. Settings → Preferred RAW Engine can also set the initial engine for NEF / NRW files.
- Apple RAW parameters: Luminance NR, Color NR, Sharpness, Micro Contrast, Detail, Moire, Local Tone, Tone Curve, Shadow Boost, Gamut Mapping, and Lens Correction are saved per photo.
- Automatic fallback: If Apple RAW cannot open a file, PonZCV automatically switches to Nikon SDK / LibRaw / JPG so editing can continue.
RAW development / lens corrections
- Adjustable Camera Match: For Apple RAW / LibRaw / DNG, the color and tone estimated from the embedded camera preview can now be adjusted from 0–100%. Global settings plus per-photo On / Off and Amount are saved and applied to export. Files without a measurable embedded preview are left unchanged.
- Expanded embedded RAW lens corrections: In addition to Nikon, Sony, Fujifilm, and Panasonic, PonZCV now supports embedded lens-correction data in Canon CR3 files. Correction handling was also refined across supported brands.
- Prevented duplicate lens corrections: PonZCV detects lens corrections embedded in DNG files and no longer adds embedded or Lensfun corrections when the image is already corrected.
- Updated Lensfun database: The macOS and Windows builds now include the same updated camera and lens data.
Edit mode and local adjustments
- Edit Variant: Create multiple edit variants from the same source photo without copying the original file. Variants are automatically stacked with the source and shown with colored badges and labels.
- RGB tone curves: Tone curves now support independent Red / Green / Blue channels in addition to Master, with M/R/G/B buttons, per-channel histograms, and RGB presets.
- New tone curve presets: Deep Black / Hi Roll / Bright Soft / Warm Hi / Cool Shadow were added. Warm Hi and Cool Shadow update the RGB channels together.
- Auto Tone as an independent layer: Toggle it without changing the manual base values, set Amount from 0–150%, recalculate it, and choose Include Level. The UI also shows whether Auto Tone is still applied or was followed by manual edits.
- Edit copy / paste: Master and RGB tone curves are now included when copying edit settings.
- Brush Repair: Brush, mask, and reference-area alignment is improved when crop, rotation, perspective, or lens correction is active. Localized processing and partial updates also improve responsiveness on large images.
- Slider display: Slider tracks now use gradients that hint at brightness, color, saturation, and noise-reduction behavior.
Remote WebUI
- Mobile develop controls: Overall Tone presets and Amount, Warm Hi / Neutral / Cool Shadow, and Auto Tone On / Off, 0–150% Amount, and recalculation are now available from phones and tablets.
- Mobile editing UI: Tone and Color Grade are organized as peer control areas, the develop controls scroll together, and the mobile UI better follows the parameter focused on the PC.
- RAW engine preservation: Remote edits no longer pin RAW / HIF files to the JPG path unintentionally; desktop preview and export reuse the intended RAW engine.
Export / metadata
- Edit Variant export: Variant-specific edits can now export to JPEG and, on supported macOS systems, HEIF. The Variant name is appended to the output filename.
- Safer HEIF metadata macOS: Metadata written by the native encoder or SDK is preserved, avoiding EXIF / XMP loss or corruption from a post-export ExifTool rewrite.
- Better lens-info compatibility: Standard lens EXIF is supplemented for JPEG / TIFF exports. With the ExifTool extension enabled, related lens EXIF / XMP is also copied from the source, making lens names easier to display correctly on sites such as Kakaku.com.
Library / Loupedeck
- Status bar filters: Double-click Pending / Missing in the status bar to show files whose metadata is still being prepared or whose generated data is incomplete. Missing does not mean that the original file is offline or gone.
- Loupedeck update: Tone-curve channel switching and the new presets were added to the plugin profile, now versioned as 1.0.2.
- Lightroom send action: The action is shown and executed only when Lightroom sync is enabled and connected, and sending a Variant resolves its real source instead of using the virtual path.
Importing cloud-backed files
- Wait for online-only files: Import / Organize now waits for streamed files from services such as Google Drive or OneDrive to be fully local and readable, while showing a waiting count. This prevents incomplete RAW imports and duplicate work on the next run.
- Safer import copies: A partially copied file is no longer published as complete, and a source that changes during copying is deferred to the next run.
Windows compatibility Windows
- TIFF previews: TIFF preview through Windows Imaging Component (WIC) has been restored.
- Paths with Japanese text, spaces, or #: Windows paths are now encoded as file URLs correctly, improving thumbnail, Preview / Edit, and export-source loading.
- Updated RAW development: The latest RAW development components are included with the Windows build and are ready to use after installation.
Release notes: v3.2.5
v3.2.5 adds a search / filter modal to the Remote WebUI thumbnail grid, improves Date sorting on mobile, and speeds up image loading on iPhone / iPad.
Remote WebUI
- Search button in the thumbnail grid: A search icon has been added to the left of the thumbnail-size button. It opens a filter modal so you can narrow the Remote thumbnail grid directly from a phone or tablet.
- EXIF and culling filters: Filter by file name, date range, camera, lens, format, resolution, star rating, color label, C.TAG, and edited / unedited state. Shot EXIF now works like the PC version: focal length, aperture, shutter speed, and ISO appear as count-backed columns, and picking a condition narrows the other columns. The modal search field helps find long candidate lists.
- Clear result feedback on mobile: While filters are active, the search button shows a badge. The modal also shows filtered / total counts, with Clear and Apply actions for quick cleanup.
- Connect by hostname (display & Copy URL): The Remote WebUI address can now be shown and copied using the Mac's hostname (e.g.
http://MacBook-Pro.local:3200/ponzcv) instead of its LAN IP, so a phone bookmark keeps working even when the Mac's IP changes over Wi-Fi. The IP address is still shown as a fallback for devices that can't resolve the hostname (the host-side "Open" button is unchanged).
Included fixes
- Date sorting on mobile: Date sorting in the mobile UI / Remote WebUI now prioritizes capture time instead of appearing to follow file name order.
- Initial mobile list metadata: The mobile screen now receives lightweight metadata such as capture time when it first loads or reconnects. Date sorting and metadata display are more reliable as soon as the thumbnail list opens.
- Image loading on iPhone: The mobile app now serves cached thumbnail JPEGs through the app's local URL scheme instead of sending Base64 image strings through the WebView bridge, reducing wait time and memory use when many thumbnails are shown.
Release notes: v3.2.3
v3.2.3 is a maintenance release for the v3.2.0 line, fixing a crop issue with portrait photos.
Bug fixes
- Crop frame on portrait photos: Fixed an issue where, when cropping (straighten / trim) a portrait-orientation photo in Edit mode, the photo stayed upright but the crop frame could appear sideways (landscape). The crop frame now stays correctly upright for portrait photos.
Release notes: v3.2.2
v3.2.2 is a maintenance release for the v3.2.0 line, fixing a develop-mode exposure/color rendering issue.
Bug fixes
- Exposure & color while developing: Fixed an issue where bright, saturated areas (vivid costumes, warm-lit scenes, etc.) could look washed out when raising exposure or applying edits. Applies to both the edit preview and export.
Release notes: v3.2.1
v3.2.1 is a maintenance release for v3.2.0, fixing a culling issue that occurred while filtering by rating.
Bug fixes
- Prev / next navigation while filtering by rating: Fixed a bug where, with a rating filter active, changing the selected / shown image's rating so it no longer matched the filter broke ← / → navigation — the thumbnail grid jumped back to the first item, while Preview / Edit mode froze. Navigation now moves to the dropped image's neighbour, and the dropped image leaves the list once you move away (thumbnail grid, Preview, and Edit mode).
Release notes: v3.2.0
v3.2.0 merges the published v3.1.3 line and the unpublished v3.1.4 fix, then adds Remote WebUI for controlling the PC-side PonZ Contents Viewer from a phone or tablet on the same LAN / VPN. Develop and export still run on the PC engine, while the mobile UI handles thumbnails, Preview, Edit, culling, and export commands.
New
- Remote WebUI: You can now review, cull, edit, and send export commands for the PC library from a phone or tablet on the same LAN / VPN. Develop and export still run on the PC engine, so the mobile device works with the same source files as the desktop app.
- Remote Preview / Edit: Check shoots from the device in your hand, adjust develop parameters and the crop / straighten controls needed before export. Remote Crop is limited to Crop Size / Straighten / Auto Crop / 90° rotate / ratio / frame direction; Horizontal / Vertical perspective correction and Upright Auto remain PC Edit mode controls.
- Remote Export: Send selected photos to the PC export flow from mobile. Output format and destination stay managed on the PC side, so files do not need to be moved to the device first.
Improvements
- Auto Import Interval: PonZCV can run saved Organize settings in the background at a chosen interval, then scan the library and refresh Remote WebUI automatically after new files are imported.
- Shader rendering adjustments: Adjusted the Edit / Preview rendering shader so tone and color transitions look more natural.
- LibRaw / DNG RAW develop: Improved Camera Match for RAW files developed through LibRaw / Adobe DNG SDK, bringing the initial rendering closer to the in-camera JPEG look while keeping corrections within safe, non-breaking limits.
Bug fixes
- Spot-fix position after perspective correction: Fixed a bug where moving the Transform H / V (horizontal / vertical perspective) or rotation sliders did not redraw existing spot-fix masks, leaving the on-screen red mask out of sync with the source pixels being edited. Spot masks now follow the new transform as soon as the sliders are adjusted.
Release notes: v3.1.3
v3.1.3 is a maintenance release on top of v3.1.2. It fixes a delay where the saved edit was not displayed immediately when reopening a previously edited photo, and a Loupedeck integration bug where the device's value display did not refresh after switching to a different image.
Bug fixes
- Immediate re-edit display: Fixed an issue where reopening a previously edited photo could leave the saved edit result invisible for a moment, delaying the start of further editing. The saved edit now appears immediately on re-entry.
- Loupedeck value display sync: When switching to a different image in Edit mode, the values shown on the Loupedeck's knob screens previously stayed on the prior image's values. PonZCV now resends every slider value on file switch, and also re-syncs the current slider state whenever the Loupedeck desktop app starts or the plugin reconnects. The PonZCV ↔ Loupedeck readouts now stay in lockstep.
Release notes: v3.1.2
v3.1.2 is the first Windows release with RAW development. The macOS build fixes folder registration and adds Loupedeck integration; the Windows build adds RAW development through Nikon SDK. See the feature comparison page for platform differences.
New
- V3 (RAW develop) — first Windows release Windows: v3.1.2 brings the V3 RAW-develop line to Windows (x64) for the first time. All features are available except the macOS-only ones (HEIF edit / export, AI critique, AI search, DaVinci Resolve send). See feature comparison for details.
- LibRaw / Adobe DNG SDK development Windows: The Windows build includes the same development engines as the macOS build, supporting NEF / NRW / ARW / DNG / RAF / CR3 / CR2 / ORF / RW2 / PEF without an additional installation.
- Nikon SDK development Windows: The Windows build can develop Nikon NEF / NRW through Nikon RAW SDK, including Nikon color with Picture Control.
- Loupedeck CT / Live integration: PonZCV can now be driven from Loupedeck devices through a plugin. Edit mode sliders, ratings, color labels, C.TAG, and A/Z navigation can be mapped to physical knobs and keys. To install, open the Loupedeck desktop app (6.3 or later) and double-click "Loupedeck_PonZCV-Plugin-1.0.0.lplug4".
Bug fixes
- Folder marker creation on registration: A newly registered folder could miss its
ponzcv.datmarker, which is required for relink. The marker is now created reliably on registration.
Release notes: v3.1.1
v3.1.1 is a maintenance release on top of v3.1.0. It adds direct export to the macOS Photos.app as a destination, and fixes the post-rotation crop / spot-fix bugs.
New
- Destination = Photos.app macOS: The export dialog now offers a Destination toggle between Folder (the existing behavior) and Photos.app. When Photos.app is selected, the rendered file is handed straight into the macOS Photos library and the Output Folder is ignored.
Bug fixes
- Crop ratio after a 90° / 270° rotation: Picking a 1:1 / 4:3 / 3:2 / L / 16:9 / orig preset right after rotating the image used to compute the rect against the pre-rotation aspect, producing a thin slip-shaped frame. The crop now matches the rotated composition.
- Spot-fix coordinates after rotation: Reference and apply points for spot-fix could land at the wrong source-pixel location while the image was 90° / 270° rotated. The transform now follows the rotated display correctly.
Release notes: v3.1.0
v3.1.0 rolls up the major additions since v3.0.3. The main themes are multi-window workspaces, stronger culling with C.TAG / stacks, 10-bit HEIF / HIF editing, HEIF export from RAW/DNG, and Max MB export.
Multi-window and workspaces
- Multi-window support (Preview / Edit): Turn on Settings → Display → Multi-Window to open the selected file's Preview / Edit in a separate BrowserWindow while the thumbnail browser remains visible. Movies still launch in the existing native player. Ratings, color labels, edit parameters, and per-file LUT changes auto-sync between windows in real time.
- Workspaces: The Window menu can save named main + secondary window positions and sizes. The workspace list shows the saved display layout and highlights entries that match the current monitor setup.
- Priority workspace cycle button: Mark up to 3 workspaces as pinned, then cycle through them from the monitor-icon button in the main toolbar or secondary window title bar.
- Restore and sync: The app can restore the last window layout on launch. AF points, index numbers, sort order, filmstrips, ratings, color labels, edit parameters, and LUT settings sync between windows.
- Preview / Edit while keeping the grid: With Multi-Window on, Space / double-click / Cmd+E route to the secondary window and keep the main window as the grid.
Culling and classification
- C.TAG (custom tags): Classify portraits, live-event shots, group cuts, and other folder-hostile sets with 3-letter tags, colors, and descriptions. You can define up to 50 tags; each file can hold up to 5 custom tags.
- Tag assignment and filtering: Assign tags from the palette, remove individual tags, or clear all tags. The FilterBar supports C.TAG AND / OR matching, No Tags, Select All, and Clear.
- C.TAG shortcuts: By default, Cmd+1–9 assigns tags 1–9 and Cmd+0 clears custom tags. A setting can make the number keys prefer C.TAG instead.
- Stacks / Nikon Z Burst Auto Stack: Consecutive visible files can be stacked manually. Nikon Z stills with BurstGroupID metadata can be auto-stacked by same folder, camera, and BurstGroupID within a 5-minute span.
Edit and export
- Native 10-bit HEIF / HIF edit:
.hif/.heif/.heicfiles can now enter Edit mode and export back to 10-bit HEIF. This supports HIF workflows from cameras such as Fujifilm X100VI while keeping originals untouched. - 10-bit SDR HEIF export from RAW/DNG: Any source that can be edited through the 16-bit Nikon SDK / LibRaw / Adobe DNG SDK / native HEIF path can now export as HEIC 4:2:2 or HEIC 4:2:0, not just JPEG. Nikon HLG NEF exports as HDR HEIF in Nikon SDK mode; regular RAW/DNG/HIF/HEIF/HEIC sources export as SDR HEIF.
- Max MB export: Export quality now includes Max MB. Set a target of 1 MB or higher and PonZCV accepts only candidates that are at or below that limit. If even the minimum quality cannot fit, export fails instead of creating an oversized file.
Other
- Auto exposure on first LibRaw decode: RAW files developed via LibRaw (NEF/NRW/ARW/CR3/CR2/RAF/RW2/ORF/PEF) used to look darker than the embedded JPEG. PonZCV now compares the embedded JPEG and LibRaw default medians on first Edit / Export and adjusts automatically. Sliders stay at zero, and the correction also applies to Export.
